The Pittsburgh Paints Company announced Warm Mahogany as its 2026 Color of the Year, a rich red shade with brown undertones.
“In 2026, we anticipate consumers will embrace opportunities to rest, rejuvenate and connect with others, prioritizing their wellness across all aspects of their lives,” says Ashley McCollum, color expert at The Pittsburgh Paints Company. “The desire for increased social intimacy requires spaces that promote togetherness, a core design focus that moves away from abiding to trends and delivers refined aesthetics that feel timeless and classic.”
With nods to tradition and craftsmanship, Warm Mahogany is particularly suited for eating spaces, as red colors are known to increase appetite.
“Just as quiet luxury brought us years of warm neutrals, our spaces now require a color that can feel both calming and adventurous,” McCollum says. “Warm Mahogany is effortlessly pragmatic and daring, quiet and loud, introverted and extroverted. It’s vivid enough to draw immediate attention and reserved enough to make a timeless statement. This versatility lends itself well to the sentiment consumers are looking to express through design.”
Warm Mahogany fits within the company’s four key design themes for the year: Portal, Ode, Collective and Heirloom.
