The U.S. economy lost 92,000 jobs in February, according to the latest report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The February unemployment rate was edged up to 4.4%, showing a slight increase from January.
The labor force participation rate in February was reported at 62.0% and the employment-population ratio was 59.3%, both showing little change from January. The number of unemployed people in February was 7.6%.
The healthcare sector saw the largest job loss due to strike activity. The construction sector saw little change in February, adding 11 jobs in the month.
