The Pittsburgh Paints Company recently announced its wood care brands has selected Black Oak as its 2026 Stain Color of the year. Inspired by naturally aged wood, Black Oak is a versatile neutral with deep forest tones, bringing warmth and depth to outdoor spaces.
“In a world where homeowners are moving away from quick fixes and toward smarter, longer-lasting choices, Black Oak hits the sweet spot,” says Ashley McCollum, Pittsburgh Paints Co. color marketing manager. “Instead of chasing trends, they’re gravitating toward colors that feel timeless and dependable, especially for outdoor projects that have to stand up to weather, wear and everyday life. Black Oak answers that call with ease. It isn’t about chasing what’s next, but choosing what lasts.”
Black Oak is a semi-transparent stain that is both forgiving and durable, allowing the natural wood grain to show through while hiding dirt and scuffs. The shade compliments Pittsburgh Paints Co.’s 2026 Paint Color of the Year, Warm Mahogany (PPG1060-7),
Pittsburgh Paints Co. also recently launched the PITTSBURGH PAINTS™ TRU-INDUSTRIAL™ line, the company’s new industrial coatings brand for transportation, building materials, sheds, trailers and heavy-duty equipment.
“This launch is an exciting opportunity for us to better serve the industrial coatings segment with new, innovative solutions,” says Dennis Karnstein, president and general manager–commercial, The Pittsburgh Paints Company. “The PITTSBURGHPAINTS™ TRU-INDUSTRIAL™ brand positions us as the single-source coatings supplier for our customers, providing them with world-class technology, dedicated industrial products and local, quality services built on the heritage of a business with over 150 years of expertise. Our expert PITTSBURGH PAINTS™ TRU-INDUSTRIAL™ brand specialists are dedicated to helping our customers and partners accelerate their business.”
The brand’s portfolio is comprised of three primary sub-brands for a wide range of applications, including a solvent-based, water-based and coating made specifically for shed builders.
The coating’s portfolio also includes machine-applied and wood coatings, powder coatings, pretreatment products, solvents and sundries and touchup solutions.
“Not all of our products will be brand new to the industry—some are the heritage of great formulas that are just taking on a new name,” said Karnstein. “As we continue to strengthen our brand presence in the industrial sector, we’ll start to rollout our new labels. Our customers and dealer partners can expect to start seeing the new branding on our products and materials throughout the first half of 2026.”
