Picking the right color can be one of the most stressful parts of any paint project, so to help customers with the decision-making process, Meldrim’s Paint Center offers free paint samples on Tuesdays. The Test it Tuesday promotions started in August 2022 at all three locations: Meldrim’s in Ithaca and Cortland, New York, and Urbanik’s Paint Co. in Utica, New York.

The promotion, which allows customers to choose two free Benjamin Moore samples every Tuesday, drives traffic to the stores during the slower season and increases year-round retail business, says director of operations Kaitlyn Head. Retail business has increased in all three locations since starting the promotion, she says.

“We see customers come in for samples on Tuesdays and come back in before the weekend to purchase their paint,” Head says. “The promotion allows us the opportunity to show them everything we have to offer, including our large variety of sundries, creating a one-stop shop for everything paint and stain.”
