Sherwin-Williams Embarking on Several Expansion Projects

The Sherwin-Williams Company announced it signed an agreement with the state of North Carolina, Iredell County and the city of Statesville to expand its architectural paint and coatings manufacturing capacity. The agreement includes a larger distribution facility in Statesville, North Carolina, and Sherwin-Williams plans to invest a minimum of $300 million in the project.

The larger facility will add 180 full-time jobs over three years, doubling the existing workforce. The project will include a 36,000-square-foot extension of the existing 200,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, four new rail spurs and a new 800,000-square-foot distribution and fleet transportation center.

Sherwin-Williams continues to invest in initiatives that support our growth for years to come. The planned expansion of our Statesville facility demonstrates a deep commitment to both our customers and the region,” says John G. Morikis, Sherwin-Williams chairman, president and chief executive officer. “This investment will not only allow us to meet the growing customer demand in the region, but it will also add a number of good-paying jobs to our already vibrant employee base in the community.”

Construction is expected to start by the third quarter of this year, with all work slated to be completed by the end of 2024. The manufacturing facility will continue to operate for the duration of the project.

In January, the Sherwin-Williams Company broke ground on the Company’s new global headquarters. The 1,000,000-square-foot facility will be located in downtown Cleveland, Ohio, and will include a 2-story pavilion acting as the front porch to Public Square, a 36-floor office tower and an attached multilevel parking garage.

The new headquarters and expansion in North Carolina are part of the company’s comprehensive Building Our Future project, which also includes the construction of a new 600,000-square-foot Research & Development (R&D) Center in Brecksville, Ohio, which officially broke ground in October 2021.
