Outdoor Paint Trends Making Houses Pop

The Spruce, a digital design website, announced trends in outdoor paint that their designers have seen homeowners gravitate toward this year. With the exterior facade of your home often being the first impression visitors get, picking a trending color is a great way to make a first impression. Here are three outdoor paint trends to stock on your shelves to keep your customers on trend.

Balancing White and Gray

Commonly called a tuxedo palette, combining lighter hues and darker tones gives a classic look to exteriors. Whisper from Dunn Edwards Paint is a subtle white and is available with three sheen options and comes in both gallon and quart sizes. Extra White from Sherwin-Williams is an expert pick and has high light reflectivity.

The Dark Side

Taking inspiration from Swedish farmhouses, many homeowners are opting for darker tones for their home exteriors. PPG’s Onyx paint is a darker exterior paint available in multiple shades and accents. Smelt Black from Farrow & Ball is an interior and exterior dark tone and has been tested for light exposure so it won’t fade over time.

Earth Tones

Incorporating browns, greens and blues generally help homes feel cozier. Playing off natural touches of the home, these colors play well with traditional home building materials. Green isn’t an extremely popular color for home exteriors but it’s a great way to make a statement. Accessible Beige from Sherwin-Williams is an earthy brown with gray undertones and pairs well with other earth tones. Refined green from Dunn-Edwards Paints and is a blackened green with a touch of blue that pairs well with off-whites and warm grays.
