Homeowners are continuing to renovate their homes in 2026 despite 2025’s economic challenges, according to the 2026 U.S. Houzz Renovation Plans Report. Paint & Decorating Retailer broke down the data from the study:

Remodeling Confidence:

• Over 9 in 10 homeowners say they will move forward with their planned renovation projects in 2026.
• Of those who plan to remodel, 67% report they will keep or expand their project scope.

Picking the Pros:

• 93% of renovating homeowners plan to work with professionals in 2026, especially homeowners tackling projects costing $50,000 or more.
• Types of professionals hired: 
  • General contractors: 55%
  • Kitchen and bath designers: 30%
  • Interior designers: 20%

Challenges Expected:

• More than 9 in 10 homeowners plan to run into some form of renovation challenge in 2026, including: 
  • The rising cost of products and materials (63%)
  • Higher labor costs (31%)
  • Difficulty finding available professionals (25%)
