May is National Home Remodeling Month and many local home builder associations are hosting home shows and parades of homes in honor of the month-long celebration.

The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) recommends the following eight ways to connect with the remodeling contractors your operation serves.

• Recording a PSA for local radio stations about the benefits of hiring a professional remodeler using templates from NAHB.
• Pitch to local TV talk shows on a remodeling segment, discussing topics like how to choose a remodeler or how to avoid contractor fraud.
• Use social media to reach new audiences and promote hiring home professionals.
• Organize and sponsor a consumer remodeling fair to bring together remodelers, lenders and product manufacturers.
• Organize a tour of remodeled homes or include remodeled homes in your parade of homes event.
• Hold a seminar about remodeling for local senior citizens at aging-in-place facilities or other community organizations.
• Conduct a month-long campaign to enlist remodeler council members to include yard signs on their finished remodeling sites.
• Work with community partners to remodel a home for a charitable cause.
