Rust-Oleum “Spray It Forward” Mural Program Gains Momentum

Rust-Oleum’s “Spray It Forward” mural program, aimed at bringing together artists and nonprofits to celebrate creativity, cultural storytelling and connection, has been gaining momentum worldwide.

Artists in the program use Rust-O, the company’s spray paint designed exclusively for artists. Each mural created through the program reflects the unique identity of its community and includes a nod to Rust-Oleum through a hidden “Easter egg.”

“Art has a profound ability to connect people and tell meaningful stories,” says Natalie Klemko, product manager at Rust-Oleum. “The Spray It Forward program and Rust-O Artist Spray Paint ensure artists have the tools they need to make an impact. Together, we’re creating spaces that help communities feel seen, valued and inspired.”

Mural projects through the program are currently in production in Chicago; Attleboro, Massachusetts; Carolina Beach, North Carolina; and Kenosha, Wisconsin.

The “Spray It Forward” initiative also highlights existing murals, including SOMA Pilipinas, a mural by a San Francisco artist honored by Rust-Oleum’s Dream Big Award as part of the 2025 National Mural Awards.
