The rotating art on display at Harrison Paint Co. in Shreveport, Louisiana, is for sale.
The business recently started partnering with artist David Dailey, who creates art pieces using latex paint more typically used for walls in homes and businesses rather than painting with acrylics from art stores.
Harrison Paint co-owner Bridget Hamm got to know Dailey because he is a longtime customer. However, she didn’t know much about his work until she spotted his paintings in a Facebook group encouraging locals to support Louisiana artists by buying their art.
Hamm spoke to Dailey about potentially displaying his artwork in one of her company’s four stores. Dailey could display and sell paintings from the store while allowing Hamm to show off beautiful uses for her store’s paint.
“He was thrilled and we just went forward from there,” Hamm says.
Dailey hung up a few of his paintings and agreed to rotate the artwork in and out, depending on what sells. Hamm hopes the attention Dailey’s work gets at the store will result in him not only selling paintings but also getting hired for commissions.
She enjoys supporting the arts in her area and also appreciates the beauty Dailey’s art brings to the store.
“I love the paintings. I love having color up on the walls,” Hamm says.
Displaying unique uses for the products Harrison Paints sells is helpful for the store, as well, because it provides inspiration for customers and ways to use paint they may not have thought of before.
“I really like it when people come into the store and see how other people do the application. It’s a new dynamic,” Hamm says. “Everybody says, ‘Oh, wow! Look at that!’ When you can show them, it’s more impactful.”
